The Mint at Amritsar issued parallel series of coins from VS1841, which carries the legend as on the seal of Banda Singh Bahadur
"Deg tegh o Fath Nusrat Be-Dirang; Yaft az Nanak Guru Gobind Singh"
This series was discontinued in VS1865 & restarted again in VS1895 with the reverse carrying a frozen VS1884. The Nanakshahi coins also continued with a frozen reverse date VS1885. These coins are fairly scarce than the issues with the Nanakshahi legend. For the purpose of differentiation of the legends, this series is called the Gobindshahi coins. The coins of series 01.22.04 carry a four digit date on the Obverse, an obvious requirement with the turn of the century.
