The Misl coinage starts with VS1822 from Lahore, the capital of Punjab, which Afghans lost to the Sikhs. The town was briefly reoccupied by the Durrani's in the winter of 1797/98 & again in November 1798. Shah Zaman Durrani struck coins from Lahore on both the occasions, but these interruptions seem to be very short, and the Sikh coinage continued regularly. |
